I love this house—I've loved it since the very beginning. I wanted something unique, something with character, and this home delivered in every way. We’ve made countless memories here, but what I’ll miss most are the small, often overlooked moments: birdsong in the morning, frogs peeping at night, fireflies glowing on summer evenings, flowers shifting with the seasons, and deer wandering through the backyard. I’ll miss the sunrise painting the rooms pink and orange, the hush of snowfall, the sound of rain on the Barn roof, the brook babbling outside the window, and the cozy warmth of sitting by the fire. This house is generous, and it has held us—with love, history, and quiet magic—for many years.
I especially love the flexibility our home offers. When we first moved here in 2004, the Barn was our family gathering spot—we slept in the Main House, cooked in both kitchens, and Rosemarie’s business operated from the Barn loft. Our daughter, a local swim team member, made the Barn the go-to place for her teammates: overnights, waffle parties, basketball games, and meetups before prom. Holidays were unforgettable, especially Christmas with a 14-foot tree. We always had room for visiting relatives and friends, and the Tavern Room comfortably sat twelve for meals, game nights, and puzzle marathons. After our daughter left for college, we used the Barn less and eventually rented it as a live/workspace to a visual artist, whose studio opened to the public several times a year. Later we rented it to a couple until 2019, when we renovated it into an Airbnb. From Spring 2022 through December 2023, it was surprisingly successful—especially during the holidays—and guests still ask when it will return. In early 2024, when our daughter and her family relocated from California, they lived in the Main House while we moved into the Barn, and for the next twenty months we experienced the joys of multi-generational living.
